Speaker Bio
A native from one of the largest cities in Colombia, César immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager in pursuit of opportunity. After 25 years of calling Omaha home, he is grateful for the abundance of support, mentorship, and opportunities presented throughout his career.

César is driven by a vision for the future – an equitable community full of choice and opportunities for residents to thrive, providing a strong foundation for success. In his role as Executive Director at Canopy South, he is leading the revitalization efforts in South Omaha that focus on transforming neighborhoods while bringing together the vital components necessary for holistic community revitalization: developing high-quality mixed-income housing, establishing an effective cradle-to-career education pipeline, and enhancing community vibrancy through resources and amenities—all with the goal of creating a healthier, more sustainable, mixed-income community.

García fosters intentional partnerships with community stakeholders and leads strategic initiatives and projects to fulfill the mission of the organization. His goal is to work alongside elected officials, community leaders, and residents to help build the city’s future while simultaneously helping South Omaha maintain its status as a welcoming, inclusive gateway for new residents of the Omaha community.

Previously, César served as a Principal in the Firm and as Energy & Engineering Sector Leader at DLR Group. While there, he was the Lead Engineer for several notable local and national projects. With strong ties to the community, much of his time is invested in giving back to the city that was foundational to his success. He serves on the Urban Core committee with the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, among other several private, civic, and nonprofit boards, committees, and technical groups.

Garcia, a graduate of Leadership Omaha, was recognized for his innovative leadership efforts when he was named one of the Midlands Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 in 2016, and he was a recipient of the Ten Outstanding Young Omahans awards in 2018. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
