Joe Flaxbeard knows that the most complex projects rarely go exactly as planned, and that is precisely where good engineering makes its mark. As Private Practice Lead at Lamp Rynearson, Joe brings 19 years of civil engineering experience guiding land development, redevelopment, and public infrastructure projects from the first sketch through construction closeout.

His portfolio spans some of the Greater Omaha area’s most ambitious development efforts, including the 500-acre Heartwood Preserve mixed-use development, the 40-acre Crossroads Redevelopment, Aksarben Village, and Iron Bluff, along with institutional work at Metropolitan Community College and multi-site programs for clients like First National Bank and QuikTrip. Across these projects, Joe has consistently operated at the intersection of private client goals, public infrastructure requirements, and community expectations, a space where competing priorities demand clear communication, disciplined planning, and steady risk management.

Joe holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Mathematics Minor and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Nebraska and an Envision Sustainability Professional. His leadership extends well beyond the drafting table. He served as President of the ASCE Nebraska Section, has been active on the ACEC Nebraska Private Client Committee, and completed the ACEC Pathways to Executive Leadership program. He has also served his community through the City of Omaha Building Board of Review, Leadership Omaha, and board leadership at local schools.

At the CRE Summit, Joe brings a practitioner’s perspective on what it actually takes to move a project forward: anticipating obstacles before they become problems, aligning stakeholders around shared goals, and delivering results that hold up long after the ribbon is cut.
